ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) doctrine

daphni’s commitment to ESG has been deeply rooted since the company was founded. Its purpose and status as a mission-driven company, along its B Corp Certification guide and, guarantee its dedication to a more sustainable world.
Our purpose, as stated in its by-laws, is as follows:
“Due to our responsibility to future generations, Daphni’s “raison d’être” is to invest in technology that contributes to a better and more sustainable world.”
The Company also aims to generate a positive and significant social, societal, and environmental impact in the exercise of its activities.

ESG embedded in our investment process

daphni’s investment policy incorporates environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria throughout the lifecycle of our investment process, from dealflow origination to portfolio monitoring; covering all our investment opportunities. This holistic approach underlines our commitment to responsible and sustainable
investment practices.
Each investment opportunity is subject to thorough due diligence, including ESG, legal, and HR aspects, and other relevant factors. This due diligence helps us to assess the impact of the investment opportunity on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and to identify any potential red flags.
To underline our commitment to responsible investment, daphni has published three policies detailing our investment approach:
ESG Doctrine: the way we approach ESG, regulation and responsible investment
Engagement & Voting Strategy: describes how we support companies in their sustainability efforts
Exclusion Policy: To protect ourselves from specific sustainability risks and to invest in line with our values and beliefs

ESG Monitoring

As a responsible investor, daphni supports its portfolio companies in their development and maintains an ongoing dialogue with entrepreneurs on the various issues and problems they encounter as part of their acceleration.
To ensure a comprehensive and tailored approach to ESG monitoring, we’ve implemented two independent processes that yield distinct outputs based on the specific needs of our stakeholders.
• On a quarterly basis, leveraging our primary reporting tool, we collect information from our portfolio companies regarding their ESG standing. This includes significant ESG events year-to-date and select key performance indicators (KPIs) that warrant more frequent tracking than an annual
cadence.
• On a yearly basis, for other ESG KPIs. In our commitment to fortifying this aspect of our operations in 2023, we have forged a strategic partnership with Apiday, a comprehensive ESG platform. This one-stop-shop solution aids founders in seamlessly initiating their sustainability journey and scaling their ESG initiatives.
