Education shouldn’t miss a beat

Education shouldn’t miss a beat

“The right of access to education — the right of every child to education on the basis of equality of opportunity and without discrimination on any grounds. To achieve this goal, education must be available for, accessible to and inclusive of all children.” — UNICEF

At daphni, we too believe that many of the world’s problems can be addressed through one solution: Education. Why? Because a quality education is the cornerstone of improving our society and economy. Learning how to think strategically makes one safer, healthier and more self-sufficient. Every single one of us have something that we are good at. Every single one of us have something to offer, so we owe it to ourselves to discover what that is… and I believe that education is THE key to unlocking it allLiteracy is the essential foundation of education and we can all take action to help people to gain access to it because every action counts. And ours at daphni, is to organize our annual ride for Room to Read — a charity ride with association with Tech Bikers to help young children across Africa and Asia in need of literacy and gender equality.

Education is also the priority of Sylvain Kalache and Julien Barbier, co-founders of Holberton School who is shaking the world of education by creating a software engineering school founded in the Silicon Valley. Holberton aims to address a gap in the education system for aspiring software engineers. We are so pleased that we decided to back these 2 brilliant founders 4 years ago as they are disrupting education as we know it today, and have managed to attract minority groups and women to a very homogenous environment.

At Holberton School, you are able to define your future by learning how to code. This is made possible through their 11 campuses in the US, Lebanon, Tunisia, Puerto Rico and Colombia and the newly started Uruguay. Kudos to both of them and to the whole team for such an amazing opening during this foggy period! Fun fact: did you know that the American singer Ne-Yo has its role to play? In fact, he is member of the Board of Trustees at Holberton, and has a huge impact on opening the tech world to underrepresented students.

New technologies and innovations are continually shifting the way we have access to education, and we all have a role to play in this crucial challenge in the world… Cheers to that!

Learn, love, live,

Aurélie
