Build Da Body. For. Good.
Hi folks! We have a question for you: are you vegetarian, flexitarian, semi-vegetarian, lacto-ovo-vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, macrobiotic, on a plant-based diet…? Ok, stop, your head is spinning. We’re joking. All those words are becoming more and more familiar nowadays. They actually aren’t new and are becoming common because of one simple realization: we need to eat the way our body and the planet love. And the thing is, the covid-19 crisis is pushing us on this direction!
Oh, we almost forgot, are you on a carbon diet? Ok, your head is spinning again. Sorry.
You probably heard from a friend “No more meat for me after watching this film.” Yes, we’re talking about What the Health and The Game Changer. These two movies revolutionized some consumers understanding of food and dairy — and maybe you’re one of them. Both documentaries created awareness on current global challenges, such as impacts of climate change, loss of biodiversity, overuse of natural resources, health issues like overweight, cancer and diabetic diseases, indigestion, allergies, intolerance… The list is long.
You get it, the food industry has dramatically changed, and customers are demanding higher quality, locally produced, as well as more organic, vegetarian and vegan food. Moreover, we found out that the European organic market has surpassed 40 billion euros in 2019, and the market for animal protein substitutes continues to gain ground. To respond to these new ways of eating and consuming, entrepreneurs are not stopping finding ideas over the years to help shifting to a well-being way of life.
At daphni, when we talk about this topic, there is two companies that ring a bell: Beendi and ZOE. Beendi has been founded by Beena and Yannick in 2013. They exactly know how to respond to the increasing demand by providing a better food for all. Check their products out and ask us if you need what are our favorites ones — we have pretty much tried all of them. The team sources seasonal ingredients, using smart production processes and helping customers to eat healthy, without compromising on time and price. The team just settle down in the Drôme in the south of France where their production factory is. They support home-made cooking, bulk, and diversity of ingredients and producers. The two founders truly believe that food can reconciles taste, respect for the body and for the environment and so do we (that’s maybe explain why we support them ;).
In a recent episode of the podcast Master of Good, Beena explained her love for spices — and how they have an impact on the meal — especially the high-quality pepper they use that comes from India or Sri Lanka. Don’t underestimate the power of spices when you cook at home, okay!? But as we said, the important thing is to eat the way your body loves! It actually is ZOE’s motto, and we totally agree with it (lucky us, we are agree again with the mission of a company that we back ;)!
ZOE believes that the food we eat is the most important medicine we take, and that we have a right to better understand our bodies, so we can make more confident decisions about food. Indeed, the team is working with leading scientists and thousands of volunteers — combining large-scale data and machine learning to predict personal nutritional responses to any meal so we can eat with confidence. If it’s a topic that you like and you want to deep dive in, we recommend you to follow their blog and articles/studies that are very interesting and inspiring.
Today, we want to recall how proud we are to support these two teams in their mission, both contributing to “Build Da City. For. Good.” — and Build Da Body. For. Good. 😉
Every Body is unique and there is no rules or diet to follow but only one motto: EAT THE WAY YOU LOVE (and the planet too, don’t forget)
Very best,
